FOR as long as I can remember, Timothy Nyanzi has waged a one-man Jihad to revolutionize Ugandan comedy. He has pioneered countless comedy nights, mentored aspiring comics and upskilled established ones. Hell, he’s even a founding Executive Member in The Uganda Comedians Association (TUCA).

Timothy's relentless crusade has had a seismic impact on the local comedy landscape. But his latest initiative — The Laughing Maraboustork — is a bona fide game-changer. It's gonna drag Ugandan comedy — kicking and screaming — into the 21st Century.

As a writer on The Daily Show and Emmy-winning standup comic, I've scaled the Mount Everest of American comedy. But I dearly wish a groundbreaking, customized performance space like Laughing Maraboustork existed when I was starting my comedy career in Uganda. Perhaps then, I would have won my first Emmy Award 10 years earlier.

The Laughing Maraboustork is the best comedy room in town. The Stork is nestled at Donel’s Bistro & Lounge and it’s the home to over a hundred comedians. It is the first fully fledged and operational comedy club in Uganda.

It has quickly become a comedy hotspot where established comedians come to do shows as well as a one stop for newcomers to start their career. Above everything, you can be guaranteed to have a night filled with laughter from all the greatness that steps on stage.
